• In the years preceding America's entry into World War II, Einstein joined with other Jewish physicists as a vocal proponent of the United States developing a nuclear weapons program in anticipation of a future war with Germany.

• Fearing Germany could beat the Allies to the atomic bomb, Einstein and his fellow Jewish physicists petitioned President Franklin D. Roosevelt, ultimately resulting in the Manhattan Project.
