Blum served as Prime Minister of France three times.

• Two of these tenures occurred in the 1930s, with the final occurring in the late 1940s after World War II.

• During the Nazi occupation of France, Blum fiercely opposed the Vichy government, and was tried for treason. Although he was never judged, he was imprisoned in the Buchenwald and Dachau concentration camps, until they were liberated by Allied forces.
