Prior to co-founding LinkedIn in 2002, Hoffman co-founded an early social media site called SocialNet. After leaving SocialNet, he joined PayPal, and rose to the position of executive vice president. Today, LinkedIn has nearly one billion members. It was purchased by Microsoft for $26.2 billion in 2016.
