Blitzer is a prominent CNN anchor, serving the network since 1990.

He has hosted The Situation Room, a current events show aired by CNN, since 2005. His journalism career began in the early 1970s, when he reported from Tel Aviv for Reuters, and later served as a Washington correspondent for The Jerusalem Post.

• Blitzer's parents are survivors of the Holocaust. In 2014, as part of a CNN series called Roots, he researched his family's history in Poland, and their legacy prior to the Holocaust.
